The E50B1A pulse–output DIN Rail 3-Phase Electrical Power Meter provides a cost-effective basic energy metering solution for a wide variety of applications including tenant submetering, tenant billing, and cost allocation.  Simple Pulse outputs communicate Real Energy (Watt-Hours) and Reactive Energy (VAR-Hours). Built in integrator and power supply work in conjunction with the Veris E683 CTs. The E50B1A can be easily installed on standard DIN rail, surface mounted, or contained in an optional NEMA 4 enclosure, as needed. The front-panel LCD display makes device installation and setup easy, and provides access to a full set of detailed measurements.  Phase alarm output contacts provide additional versatility. The E50B1A provides a pulse output commonly accepted by automation systems and data loggers.

Rogowski coils represent an easy to use alternative technology to solid- and split-core CTs.

Rogowski coils are best suited in applications without high harmonics. Typically, Rogowski use would be discouraged in applications with Varialbe Frequency Drives, DC converters like those used in solar, and lighting (LED, CFC) applications.

The following represent the best practices and requirements to deploy a Rogowski coil:

  • Confirm the load does not contain high levels of harmonics.
  • Confirm the meter can interpret Rogwoski data.
  • COils should not be bent further than their natural shape or wrapped multiple times around a cable to prevent pernament damage and loss of accuracy.
  • For maximum accuracy, the measured cable should be at the center of the Rogwoski coil.
